Nature of Complaint:
The Physician entered into treatment for his addiction to Tramadol in May 2006.
The Physician began taking Tramadol in 2003 for back and foot injuries and his self-treatment of those injuries led to his addiction. He would write prescriptions in the name of another family member for his own use and utilized several different pharmacies to avoid detection. The Physician never involved his patients in his obtaining of Tramadol and used only this method.
The Physician finished treatment in June 2006.
Action Taken:
The Board has Suspended the Physician's license for at least 180 days.
During that time, the Physician shall maintain sobriety and shall be subject to random screening, enrollment in a rehabilitation program and make quarterly appearances before the Board.
January 10, 2007-License Reinstated
The Board has reinstated the Physician's license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio and placed the license on Probation to include the following:
March 15, 2007-Probation Modified
The Board has approved the Physician's monitoring physician and the number and frequency of charts for review.
June 12, 2008-Probation Modified
